Kawau Bay is the East facing bay which embraces Kawau Island.
Running from Martins Bay in the South to Takatu Point in the North, it includes not only Kawau Island, but also: Motuora Is. Motutara Is. Moturekareka Is. Motuketekete Is Beehive Is. Goat Is. Rabbit Is. and Pembles Is. A veritable 'Bay of Islands'.
On the mainland, it includes: Martins Bay, Algies Bay, Snells Beach, Sandspit, Rainbows End, Buckleton Bay, Baddellys Beach, Campbells Beach and Christian Bay. A superb cluster of waterfront locations.
Being only one hour North of Auckland, the whole area is easily accessible for weekend or day outings and is the preferred location for many city dweller's holiday homes as well as it's own permanent residents.
The two main rivers in the area are the Mahurangi and the Matakana; both being navigable by boat at high tide.
Apart from beautiful beaches and coves, the area also has many other attractions and features.

Also at Matakana is the well known Morris and James Pottery, a craft market, restaurants, garden centres Palm gardens, wood turners, Art Galleries, Antique shops and much more.
A few kilometres to the North, is the Goat Island Marine reserve and the fabulous Pakari Beach.
